Please note that we do not sell ASTM A 401 chrome silicon wire or any other materials in raw form. Chrome silicon wire is a material option for custom springs,  etc., manufactured by Peninsula Spring.

Chrome silicon spring steels have a definite place in the field of spring materials, particularly for conditions involving high stress and for applications where shock or impact loading occurs. Chrome silicon wire can withstand higher and lower temperatures than high-carbon steel wire, and is obtainable in annealed and pre-tempered conditions.

Heat Treating ASTM A 401 Chrome Silicon Wire 

Chrome silicon wire is delivered in pre-tempered condition, and therefore, no further hardening can be obtained through heating.  However, depending on the application, completed springs forms will undergo a stress-relieving process.

Manufacturing Custom Springs Chrome Silicon Wire

Chrome silicon is cold drawn and heat treated before fabrication.
